IN THE PAST, it was a given that a woman’s surname was to change when she got married.

It’s likely that you know very few women from your parents’ generation who decided to keep their family’s surname when they got married. In contrast, you probably know at least a handful of women your own age who decided to keep their surname once they got married.

With same-sex marriage, things are even more complicated now. Should everyone just keep their own surname now? What about the kids? Are we going to end up with double-barreled surnames marrying other double-barreled surnames and eventually have to make room on the passport forms for quadruple-barreled surnames?

So we wanna know, would you keep your own surname after marriage?
